The project is a succession of alterations to a Cape Dutch style country boutique wine farm. The plan consists of a series of sensitive installations to the historic homestead which add a contemporary character whilst enhancing its heritage features.
The old shed was converted to a wedding venue and the old cottages were rehabilitated to modern farm-styled accommodation units. The proposal kept the original gables and used the existing materiality of white washed walls and thatch timber in clean linear forms to add a contemporary take to the existing Cape Dutch character. The result is a design that provides added modern functionality whilst keeping with the integrity of its classic form, a tribute to both past and present.
